If Detroit Lions fans were hoping their team might catch a break and Aaron Rodgers would leave Green Bay for Denver or any other team—no dice. Rodgers has decided and it appears that he is going to stick with the Packers. As could be expected, Green Bay’s Super Bowl 57 odds at sportsbooks got shorter.
Kansas City and Buffalo are still the prohibitive favorites. But if the odds are right, one of them will face the Packers in Super Bowl 57. Of course, if the Packers do not get Rodgers another receiver after trading away Davante Adams (to the Raiders), well– the outlook for Green Bay will not be nearly as bright.
Be sure to check back here as the offseason progresses to see how Detroit’s Super Bowl odds are impacted along with the rest of the teams in the NFL!

- Buffalo Bills: With Josh Allen taking over the game down the stretch last season, it is not shocking to see the Bills tied with the Chiefs for the best odds. But the Bills are going to need someone else to step up and become a reliable contributor in the run game. Yes, Allen has done well running the ball but every time he does there is a chance he gets injured.
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: All it took was the return of Tom Brady to vault the Buccaneers back near the top of odds boards. With the cast of talented playmakers at his disposal, Tampa Bay will likely be a contender once again.
- Kansas City Chiefs: As long as the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes and an impressive collection of talented playmakers surrounding him, the Chiefs are going to be at the forefront of any Super Bowl conversations. Losing Tyreek Hill was a blow, but adding JuJu Smith-Schuster softens it and they picked up a talented rookie in the draft (Skyy Moore).
- Green Bay Packers: As usual, the Packers did not draft a wide receiver in the first round, despite needing to replace Davante Adams. But they did pick one up in the second, fourth, and seventh rounds. While they may not be household names, we have seen Aaron Rodgers turn coal into diamonds before.
NA- Detroit Lions
There were signs of hope for the Lions throughout the 2021 NFL season, but not enough to warrant giving them decent odds to win Super Bowl 57. While they drafted well, too many question marks remain about much of the roster. Even though the coaching staff did wonders with what it had in 2021, there is no reason to think the staff can turn the current roster into Super Bowl contenders

Sportsbook Locations In Michigan
In March 2020, the first in-person sportsbooks launched in the three Detroit casinos. But they’ll likely launch in most casinos across the state, the rest of which are tribal-owned and span across both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.
Assuming sportsbooks stay open starting 2020, you can visit Detroit casinos to bet on sports in person.
These sports lounges offer both futures bets as well as NFL regular season and playoff games once things get rolling. They all also have tons of TVs, a full bar and food menu, and self-serve kiosks on top of ticket booths.

History of Detroit Lions Championships
The Detroit Lions won four NFL championships (1935, 1952, 1953, and 1957) before the AFL and NFL merger and the creation of the Super Bowl in 1966. Since then, they’ve never appeared in a Super Bowl.
In fact, the Lions haven’t won so much as a division championship since 1993, which is when their best-ever player Barry Sanders was there to help carry the team to some moments of greatness.
To make matters worse, the franchise decided to hit reboot this season by trading away Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff. Goff was a capable quarterback with the Rams as long as he had the support of a good running game—which he will not have with the Lions. That stark reality makes it hard to see Detroit contending now or in the near future
Off-Season Odds Breakdown For The Detroit Lions
Expectations were not high for the Lions in 2021, but there were several games in which they were much more competitive than anyone thought they would be. However, without a massive infusion of talent, it is hard to see the Lions becoming contenders in 2024. A solid draft class that includes talents like Aiden Hutchinson and Jameson Williams could make the Lions more entertaining to watch in 2024, but not Super Bowl contenders.
NFL Super Bowl Odds And Betting
Moneyline/Straight Bets
The moneyline bet is also called a straight bet because you’re picking who will win. It’s that simple. It doesn’t matter how many points either team scores or whether it goes into overtime. If your pick wins the game, you win the bet.
Points Spread
In a points spread bet, the scoreline matters. If you pick the favorite team, they have to win by the same amount or more points than the sportsbook lists. For example, if the Lions are the favorite and the spread is -3½, they have to win by at least four points for a payout.
If you pick the underdog, they either need to win by any amount or lose within the spread. Let’s say you bet the underdog Bears at a +6½ spread. They would either need to win the game or lose by six points or fewer for a payout.
Totals
The sportsbook will guess the total number of points, and you either bet that the scoreline will be above or below their guess. Sportsbooks will also do totals on the quarters and half, especially for Super Bowl odds 2021.
Parlay Bets
In a parlay bet, you make multiple picks, and they all need to be correct for you to receive a payout. The point of a parlay is to boost the winning potential on a handful of events taking place around the same time, such as Thursday through Monday night games.
Another form of the Parlay is the Teaser, wherein you can manually adjust the point spread on the various picks. This is a more advanced form of the Parlay, but seasoned bettors may be able to improve their season-long net winnings by doing Teasers rather than Parlay.
What Is An NFL Futures Bet
A futures bet for the NFL (and all sports) is where you bet on an outcome for an event that will happen sometime in the future. For the NFL, the most popular futures bets are who will win the Super Bowl and which teams will win the championships.
However, because the NFL is the most popular sport to bet on in Michigan and across the US, the futures bets are far more varied than most other sports. You can bet on exact matchups, like the Super Bowl being the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Detroit Lions, and a wide variety of other options that range wildly in odds.
What Is A Super Bowl Prop Bet
A Super Bowl prop bet is making picks based on in-game outcomes. These can include guessing who will win Super Bowl MVP, number of sacks, completions, field goals, and so on. You can even guess which of the two halves will have the most points scored.
For the 2020 Super Bowl, you not only had the option to bet on the length of Demi Lovato’s National Anthem, you could bet on the length of the final word “brave.” If that’s not specific enough for you, how about an over/under on “total players with a pass attempt”?
The list goes on, and you may see something even more creative at Super Bowl LV.
How Super Bowl Bettings Odds Are Calculated
Super Bowl betting odds are normally calculated using American Odds. This is the plus (+) and minus (-) odds rather than the decimal or fractional odds.
At most online sportsbooks, you can change how the odds are presented based on your preference. So if you prefer European odds, you can switch it up with the click of a button. Also, you can click the bet line, type in the amount you want to wager, and you’ll see how much you’ll win if the bet is successful.
How Do American Odds Work?
The plus (+) number is how much you’ll win if you bet $100. The minus (-) number is how much you need to bet to win $100. The highest minus number is the favorite, and the highest positive number is underdog.
Let’s use the home team as the favorite in an example:
Detroit Lions -150
Green Bay Packers +250
If you bet $150 on the Lions, you’d win $100. If you bet $100 on the Packers, you’d win $250.
What Affects The Odds?
You can see the odds at a sportsbook change ten times in five minutes based on a variety of factors. These include injuries, changes to the weather, and how much people are betting on the different outcomes.
If you’re betting on a game after the kickoff, you’ll see the odds change based on the ongoing in-game circumstances. For example, you can bet that a team will win after they’re behind by a touchdown.
