The Detroit Tigers named global sportsbook operator PointsBet as their official gaming partner, the first such arrangement for any Major League Baseball team.
The multi-year agreement, which starts with the upcoming 2020 season, will see PointsBet provide Tigers fans access to unique experiences, content, promotions, and more, both in and around Comerica Park, according to MLB.com.

PointsBet’s designation as an Authorized Gaming Operator of Major League Baseball comes with rights to access and use official MLB data, marks, and logos in their sportsbook products. Expect to see PointsBet branding at Comerica Park, and to hear sports on Detroit Tigers Radio Network.

PointsBet started in Australia, but first launched in the U.S. market in January 2019.
Michigan legalized mobile sports betting and online gambling in December 2019. In January of this year, PointsBet signed an agreement with the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, owners and operators of the Northern Waters Casino Resort in Watersmeet. The agreement allows PointsBet to offer its online sports betting and gambling services to Michigan users once the market launches.
Michigan initially planned to launch online sports betting and online casino gambling in early 2021, but a recent bill that would speed up that timeline has been making its way through the state legislature. If the bill becomes law, online gambling and sports betting could be legal in the state as early as the fall.
