FanDuel and the Detroit Pistons have agreed to a multi-year sports betting partnership, just ahead of Michigan’s highly anticipated launch. FanDuel becomes an official sports betting partner of the Detroit Pistons, receiving access to Pistons marks, logos, arena signage, and advertising opportunities.
In the same announcement, the Detroit Pistons announced a near-identical partnership with DraftKings, one of FanDuel’s biggest competitors.
“We appreciate the partnership-minded and collaborative approach that both FanDuel and DraftKings brought to the table,” said Detroit Pistons Chief Business Officer Mike Zavodsky. “We look forward to utilizing our platform to help each grow their presence within and connectivity to the Pistons and greater Detroit Metro communities.”
Pistons Partner With MotorCity
The Pistons are also teaming up with MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit. The property is FanDuel’s land-based partner in Michigan.
MotorCity will offer game-day events at the casino’s FanDuel Sportsbook. The events will include giveaways, live watch parties for Pistons games, and more.
Mike Raffensperger, CMO of FanDuel, said, “The Pistons are a progressive and forward-thinking franchise committed to its fans, and we see an incredibly valuable partnership opportunity as we connect our retail Sportsbook experience with Pistons game action in the arena. This new relationship will create unique approaches for us to reach Pistons fans.”
Michigan’s Sports Betting Launch
Michigan is gearing up for an online sports betting launch in late 2020 or early 2021, and operators are preparing for the market to go live.
Right now, you can sign up for FanDuel ahead of launch and claim a $100 bonus in the form of free bets ($50 for sports betting and $50 for the online casino). DraftKings, meanwhile, is offering a $200 bonus in Michigan.
Simply put, Michigan is staged to be a huge sports betting market. Partnerships with the Pistons and new launch bonuses form an already impressive slate of sports betting offers for Michigan bettors.
