A retail sportsbook operated by DraftKings is open now at Bay Mills Resort & Casino in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It is a temporary facility until a permanent retail sportsbook is completed in the fall.
With the temperature heating up in Michigan, which is one of the most popular summer vacation destinations in the Midwest, many people from in-state and out are traveling north to Brimley. Bay Mills is located in the northeast portion of the U.P., about 15 miles west of Sault Ste. Marie. It’s situated on the shore of beautiful Waiska Bay on majestic Lake Superior.
Operated by Bay Mills Indian Community, Bay Mills Resort & Casino offers 17,000 square feet of casino space, 695 slot machines, 13 table games, three restaurants, and a 144-room hotel. The resort is one of the biggest employers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, which has just over 300,000 residents (as of the 2020 census), or about 3% of the state total.

DraftKings and Bay Mills Partnership
Since establishing its sports betting partnership with DraftKings in 2020, Bay Mills has shared in more than $70 million in revenue from legal sports betting online in Michigan. With the opening of a retail sportsbook, DraftKings gains a branding presence at Bay Mills, which is a popular destination for casino lovers in the Upper Peninsula, where there are fewer options.
According to data from the State of Michigan, DraftKings has generated more than $250 million in casino revenue alone since 2020 and has a total handle including online gaming of more than $1.3 billion.
