As one of the Four Winds Casinos operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, the Four Winds Hartford is located in Hartford, Michigan. It was designed to offer an inspired aesthetic drawn from the traditions of the people of the Potawatomi. The casino opened in 2011 and offers 52,000 square feet of gaming space for visitors.
Other casinos under the Four Winds name are located in Dowagiac and New Buffalo Township, Michigan, as well as South Bend, Indiana. All of them have a Native American theme and are owned by the Pokagon Indians. This casino was the second to be constructed after the one in New Buffalo Township.

Online Gambling at Four Winds Hartford
Retail and online sports betting, along with online gambling, first became legal in December 2019, and all of the casinos in the state were expected to take advantage of the opportunity. Only two casinos were ready to get going with sports wagers right away, including the MGM Grand Detroit and Greektown.
In July 2020, Four Winds launched retail sportsbooks at all three of its Michigan properties. Gaming company Kambi provides the technology behind the retail sportsbooks. The Four Winds-Kambi agreement is also behind the Four Winds Sportsbook & Casino app, which is now live.
Casino History
In April 2011, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians announced that their newest casino would be opening a few months later. The Four Winds Hartford casino was expected to be 52,000 square feet in size and have the same design look and feel as the existing casino in New Buffalo to offer a new standard for gaming in the Midwest area.
When opening in 2011, the casino boasted about 500 slot machines, including progressive machines linked to other casinos with massive jackpots. Nine table games were also announced, including roulette, blackjack, and more. The casino also offered a second location for Timbers Fast Food and Deli, which was already at the New Buffalo casino. The restaurant would come with 100 seats and 15 seats for a bar.
The creation of the Four Winds Hartford would introduce about 300 new jobs to the area in the back of the house, on the casino floor, and in supervisor positions. This casino has not been through any significant renovations or expansions since it was put in place. However, two new casinos have been opened in South Bend and Dowagiac.
Loyalty Program
As with other Four Winds casinos, the Four Winds Hartford offers the W♣ Players Club as its loyalty program. This is a free program, and with a card from any Four Winds casino grants the ability to gain points and perks at all of the other casinos in the group. Guests can sign up at any Players Club booth to start earning points.
There are four types of memberships available in the loyalty club, including:
- Veterans Card – Only available to U.S. Military Veterans and offers the same perks as the Red Card along with a significant discount on dining experiences.
- Red Card – Offered for new members and includes free slot play, dining credit, discounts on gift shop items, and Kids Quest credit using points.
- Copper Card – Available for those with more than 50,000 points within 12 months, this card offers priority parking, front of line privileges at the players club and guest services, and all Red Card benefits.
- Premier Card – This membership is only available by invitation from an Executive host, and it is unknown what extra benefits are offered by using it.
Guests using a card can earn points for using slot machines, video poker machines, and playing table games. Points for live poker include 150 for every hour of rated play. Every 100 points can be used as $1 for free slot play. It requires placing the card in the machine, pressing the menu button, and entering your pin. The points can also be used in retailers and restaurants located in the casino.
