Online Gambling At Four Winds Dowagiac
Michigan expanded its options for gambling in December 2019, allowing the implementation of sports betting and online gambling through the existing state casinos. Although COVID-19 slowed down the launch of retail sportsbooks, and sports betting overall, Four Winds launched its retail sportsbook, powered by the gaming technology company Kambi, in all locations in July 2020.
The Pokagon Band of Indian’s agreement with Kambi includes a sports betting app, which did not launch with Michigan’s first wave of online sportsbooks on January 22, 2021. The Four Winds Sportsbook & Casino app is now live as of summer 2021.
Four Winds Dowagiac Casino History
As a federally recognized Native American tribe, the Pokagon Band was given the ability to develop casinos in 2007. The first casino opened by the group was in New Buffalo Township through a compact with Michigan under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. Four Winds Hartford, which is a satellite casino, was opened in 2011, while the Four Winds Dowagiac opened in April 2013.
This casino started at 27,000 square feet in size with hundreds of slot machines and a handful of table games. In 2016, the Pokagon Band started with plans to expand the casino to add 2,700 square feet to the casino, along with nearly a hundred more slot machines and a few new table games. Also added through the expansion included 70 parking spots for certain loyalty club members and an exclusive entrance.
Today, there is plenty to do at the Four Winds Dowagiac, with new slot games like Buffalo Grand, Lightning Link, Dragon Link, Lock it Link, and Dancing Drums. There is also a wide selection of table games and poker options like Top 3 Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Mississippi Stud Progressive, and others.
