- If the dealer reaches a total between 17 and 21, and that total is more than the player’s total, the house wins. If the player’s total is higher, the player wins. A tie results in a push, returning the player’s bet.
- If a player is dealt 21 with the first two cards, the hand is a blackjack, and the player is paid out at 3-to-2 odds on the original bet.
- Aces count as either 1 or 11, and jacks, queens, and kings count as ten. Any hand with an ace can use the ace as either 1 or 11.
